Yes. Standalone fire pits, walkways, retaining walls, and patio extensions are in our wheelhouse. The minimum that makes sense given our overhead is generally around $15,000.

We collect a deposit when the contract is signed, then weekly progress payments tied to work actually installed. You only pay for what's visibly on the ground. Final payment is due at the walkthrough when the project is complete.

What if I can't put my vision into words?

You don't need to. Pulling reference images from Pinterest, Houzz, Instagram, or Google Image search is the easiest way to show us the mood you're after. Bring 5-10 images and we'll build from there.

Both. The first conversation produces a hand sketch and a budget range. For larger projects, we then build a full 3D rendering so you can walk through your space before any stone is set.

Our production schedule typically runs 3 to 4 months out. In winter that can drop to 2 months; in peak summer it can stretch to 5-6 months.

How long does the entire process take from start to finish?

From the first design call to a cold drink in your new space, expect 4 to 6 months: roughly a month from first call to signed contract, 2-4 months in the production queue, then 1-3 weeks of construction.

What's the best time of year to build a patio in Kansas City?

Spring through early fall is the working window. Concrete pours and paver setting need above-freezing temps and minimal heavy rain. Winter is for design, planning, and getting on the schedule for spring.

How does bad weather affect my timeline?

Concrete and stonework need dry conditions, so heavy rain can push a project a few days to a couple weeks. We schedule with weather buffers, but spring storms still surprise us sometimes.

Three things: weather (the biggest), permit timing for cities or HOAs that move slowly, and material backorders on niche items like custom stone or imported pavers. We build buffers for the first two and source materials early to avoid the third.

Do you handle cleanup?

Every day, and again at the end. We sweep, stage materials neatly, and keep the work zone tidy. At completion we lay topsoil, seed, and straw on any lawn area disturbed by equipment.

Can my kids or pets be outside during the build?

The active work zone needs to stay clear, especially while mortar, concrete, or sealants are setting. The rest of the yard is fine for normal use.

Can we add a feature mid-build?

Usually yes. Adding a fire pit, water feature, or extra lighting partway through is generally fine, with one exception: anything that requires a gas or electrical line to run UNDER a poured patio needs to be decided before that pour.

Do you install stamped concrete?

We feel stamped concrete is a temporary fix. It looks nice for about 3-5 years, but like with all concrete, after this time frame it tends to crack and the color will tend to fade. We can install it, but typically advise against it. If you are looking to sell your home, it's a good option. If you are in your forever home, we would advise against it.

Do I need a permit for a patio in Kansas City?

Probably yes, depending on the city and the scope. Patios over a certain size, anything attached to the home, retaining walls over 4 feet, pools, and any covered structures generally require permits. We handle every permit application, follow-up, and HOA submission as part of the contract.

We walk this with you at the pre-construction meeting. Typically a small staging zone in the driveway or a corner of the lot, with the dumpster and material pallets grouped to keep most of your property usable during the build.

Hardscape is everything in your yard that isn't alive: patios, walls, decks, pools, fireplaces, water features, and lighting. Our crews are stonemasons, concrete specialists, and carpenters.

Yes. General liability, workers' comp, vehicle and equipment coverage, and every license and certification needed for the work we do.

Roughly 99% of every project is done by our own crews and foremen. The exceptions: licensed electricians and plumbers for specific code-required work.
